Since June this year the Calling All Cover Bands 2 competition heats have been running at four venues with over 40 Melbourne cover band battling it out for their place at the Grand Final where they will perform for a chance to win $10,000.
The Venue Winner from each hotel will be appearing at the Grand Final in an order drawn throughout the night and judged by music industry representatives. Their judging score and your vote will determine the winner of the major prize.
The competition has been a positive networking experience for both the venues and the cover bands. The up-and-coming bands have gained invaluable industry experience and the professional working bands have used the competition as a platform to promote themselves.
The competing bands will be performing on the Hallam Hotel's large touring stage that has seen the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Grinspoon, Baby Animals, Shannon Noll, Noiseworks, Rogue Traders and Gyroscope before them.

Tell me more about Calling All Cover Bands?
It's a competition where exclusively unsigned cover bands (3 or more
piece bands) are given the opportunity to perform in large entertainment
venues, be seen and heard in 'show case' sets with the chance to be up
for some great prizes including a paid gig, $10 000 cash and more.
Cover bands are judged on musicianship, crowd interaction, performance,
imitation interpretation and attitude; this and a percentage of total
crowd votes on the night are tallied up to give the bands a score.
The four highest scoring available bands are then invited to perform in
the venues semi-finals and are judged again. The two highest
semi-finalists then go on to compete against each other at the Venues
Final. The highest scoring band for the Venue Final will then be the
winner for that venue and they receive the paid gig at that venue.
All venue winners are then invited to perform at Grand Final at the
Hallam Hotel where they are up for the chance to win the big $10 000
named a 'Calling All Cover Bands Grand Final Winner'!
The next big Competition has commenced - however you may still complete
an application.
How to get involved...
Applications are still being accepted to enter Calling All Cover Bands
Competition 2; again this is a competition for exclusively unsigned
cover bands (3 or more piece bands) that are looking for that elusive
gig and a chance to become one of the next elite Melbourne cover bands.
You may not re-enter the second competition if you are a venue winner
from Competition One.
If you have already submitted an application you will be contacted
during booking process between April - July 2010.
Calling All Cover Bands Competition #1
In April 2009 we kicked off the first Calling All Cover Bands
competition at the Stamford Hotel who ran their nights on a Wednesday
followed by the Ferntree Gully Hotel, the Hallam Hotel, the Matthew
Flinders Hotel and the Monash Hotel running on other nights.
We managed to slot many wonderful musical varieties after a stream of
applications were received through this website. Bands performed 2 x 30
minute sets and impressed the venues - this competition proved that
there are many talented cover bands/musicians out there.
